SEATTLE

Seattle, the largest city in the state of Washington, screams coffee, Bill Gates and the birth of grunge rock, but there’s more than meets the eye in this spectacular city. The major economic, cultural and educational center in the region, Seattle is the county seat of King County, famously known as the Emerald City. Seattle sits on the Pacific Rim with sweeping panorama views of Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, the Olympic mountain range and majestic Mount Rainier, currently housing a population estimate of 600,000 people The city that is now a thriving metropolis, was a little more than a century ago just a pioneer outpost and a quiet lumbering town. Seattle, with its array of recreational activities and amazing tourist experiences is contrastingly also the nation’s most educated city, with the highest percentage of college graduates.

CLIMATE

The city of Seattle is located between the Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) to the west, and Lake Washington to the east resulting in a temperate, rainy climate is usually described as temperate Oceanic or Marine west coast, with mild, damp winters and relatively dry and mild summers. Seattle has a music scene built on noise, which annually draws audiences from throughout the United States and abroad. AIRPORT

Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, locally known as Sea-Tac Airport, is the main airport for the city of Seattle. After the death of U.S. Senator Jackson in 1983, the airport was renamed as Henry M. Jackson International Airport. It serves domestic and international commercial passenger flights with an annual passenger traffic estimate of 31.3 million passengers.

TRANSPORT

The main mode of transportation relies on Seattle’s streets, with an extensive network of mass transportation that includes electric trolley cars, commuter trains, a growing light rail system, monorail and buses. The transport system is conversation starter for most of the locals from daily traffic grind to light rail construction to the thorny viaduct replacement issue. The best feature of transportation in Seattle is the Seattle’s waterways having US’s largest network of ferries.
